In-person parliamentary event

Climate, peace and human security

An inter-generational dialogue on the connections between the climate crisis, peace, disarmament and human security.

Held in the Swedish parliament in conjunction with the Stockholm plus 50 international conference. Invite only.

Wednesday, June 1, 2022 | Swedish Parliament

The impacts of climate change threaten human security in many ways. Extreme weathers, food shortage, climate refugees are some examples, but these impacts can also create or intensify conflicts. Conversely, armed conflict adds to carbon emissions and diverts financial resources and political attention from achieving climate action goals.

This dialogue between parliamentarians, experts and young professionals will explore the connections between climate, peace, disarmament and human security.

The event is moderated by Doris Wagner, former member of German Bundestag and hosted by Swedish Member of Parliament Elisabeth Björnsdotter Rahm.

Location: Swedish Parliament 9.00 – 11.30, 1st of June 2022.

In-person participation by invitation only. For information contact Bodil Valero. The event will be livestreamed for public viewing on Basel Peace Office Facebook page.
