Parliamentarians around the world are taking action to promote diplomacy, prevent nuclear war, advance nuclear disarmament, cut nuclear weapons budgets, divest from nuclear weapons corporations and reinvest in climate protection and sustainable development.
PNND, in conjunction with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), has developed a Parliamentary Action Plan which gives examples of exemplary parliamentary action, and links with civil society campaigns for nuclear disarmament, including the Move the Nuclear Weapons Money campaign.
PNND is also cooperating with IPU, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and SCRAP (Strategic Concept on the Removal of Arms Proliferation) on a new program on comprehensive disarmament - which complements and supports nuclear disarmament.
The April 23 event is being held in conjunction with the NPT Prep Com - a two-week meeting in Geneva of States Parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
