The roundtable will include brief updates/reports on nuclear risk-reduction and disarmament issues and initiatives from:
- Mark Appleton, Foreign Policy adviser for Senator Edward Markey;
- Alyn Ware, Global Coordinator of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament, Disarmament Program Director for the World Future Council;
- Laurie Smolenski, Outreach and Development Officer, Institute for Economics and Peace;
- Maevyn Davis-Rackerby, Member, Move the Nuclear Weapons Money team.
Issues and initiatives discussed will include the Korea peace and denuclearization process, no-first-use/sole purpose campaign, the new Stepping Stones initiative from Sweden, Count the Nuclear Weapons Money including plans for a Washington DC satellite counting; SANE (Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditure) Act, divestment from fossil fuels and nuclear weapons (and impact investment) and the UN Secretary-General’s Disarmament Agenda Securing our Common Future.
